Communications from and to Chile are extremely expensive. It is therefore highly recommended that you switch off your roaming and either rely on WiFi where available. Most hotels and restaurants do offer WiFi free of charge. Also our coaches used in the Santiago area will be equipped with WiFi. In the other visited areas, this service is – unfortunately - not available.
As an alternative, we can also recommend WOM, a local telecom provider that offers the possibility to purchase a portable WiFi modem 3G / 4G providing you with 15GB. The cost of this token is around 50 EUR and can connect up to 10 devices (Using more devices at same time however, will slow down your connection). Should you wish us to pre-order one for you, please mark this in your registration form.
Chile uses the European type electrical plugs, albeit with 3 pins. This means that you do not need to take a universal travel plug with you. However… the plugs in Chile only allow our ‘thin’ plugs – so NOT the thicker plug type! Make sure to check the charger of your laptop as that one may be equipped with a thick plug type, in which case you will need an adapter piece. (Adapter pieces can also be bought on site in the shopping mall)
