Some Practical Info

TIME ZONE
The state of Texas is ‘blessed’ with 2 time zones.

Central Standard Time in Dallas, Austin & Houston (GMT-6)
DALLAS: 09:00 AM – BELGIUM: 03:PM (15:00)

Mountain Standard Time in El Paso (GMT-7)
EL PASO: 09:00 AM – BELGIUM: 04:00 PM (16:00)

ELECTRICITY
The US uses 110V current. However, this should not be an issue to charge phones/ipads or laptops as most of these appliances are built to be able to work on both 110V and 220V.

You will need an international conversion plug though to be able to charge any electrical element. Hotels generally have those available for their guests, but it is always handy to bring your own.

The plug type in the US is ‘Type A’, meaning 2 flat parallel pins (see image)

TELEPHONE
The country code for the USA is +1

It will come as no surprise that communications from and to USA are extremely expensive. It is therefore highly recommended that you switch off your roaming and either rely on WiFi where available. Most hotels and restaurants do offer WiFi free of charge.

We also suggest you check with your mobile phone provider as some telecom companies do offer optional packages for roaming to specific destination, such as USA.

There are several options to stay connected:

  • Check with your cell phone provider if they offer specific roaming packages for the USA
  • Another option is to buy an e-sim with credit via HolaFly.com at very reasonable rates
  • Or you can buy a mobile router – mind that not all routers work in the USA!
